Dr. David Lawrence: Expert Treatment and Compassionate Care
Seeking treatment for varicose and spider veins involves a leap of trust – trust that the physician you choose will be armed with the latest diagnostic and treatment techniques to ensure the highest level of patient service. However, you also want to work with a doctor who makes you feel comfortable from the moment you enter the office for your initial consultation until you leave your last follow-up appointment. In Iowa, the physician of choice for many varicose vein patients has been Dr. David Lawrence.
An Iowa Native with Purpose
Dr. Lawrence is an Iowa native, born and raised right in Cedar Rapids where he now practices. His father was one of the first emergency room physicians in Cedar Rapids, and Dr. Lawrence remembers spending evenings in the E.R. with his father from time to time. After Dr. Lawrence graduated from high school, he headed to the University of Chicago for his pre-med training and returned to University of Iowa to earn his medical degree.
When Dr. Lawrence joined the Physician’s Clinic of Iowa in 2005, he went to work developing a diagnostic ultrasound lab, where patients could receive state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment services for a wide range of vascular conditions. In his Cedar Rapids office, Dr. Lawrence works with both venous and arterial conditions, making a name for himself as one of the top vascular specialists in the state. During his time at PCI, Dr. Lawrence has performed hundreds of venous procedures, as well as cutting-edge arterial treatments.
Training and Experience
Dr. Lawrence understands the importance of choosing an experienced, highly skilled surgeon for your vascular needs. In addition to his education, he served one residency in general surgery and a second fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery, both in Pennsylvania, before returning to Cedar Rapids to begin his own practice. He is also board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in both general and vascular surgery.
Dr. Lawrence believes treatment of varicose veins goes beyond the cosmetic purpose. Many patients also suffer painful physical symptoms of those bulging, twisting veins, including aching and restless legs, swelling of the ankles and feet and skin irritation. In addition, varicose veins can lead to other potentially serious medical conditions, including blood clots and venous skin ulcers.
Dr. Lawrence strives to find a customized treatment approach that addresses the unique needs of each patient. In addition to providing aesthetic services, Dr. Lawrence’s team offers diagnostics and treatment options for a wide range of vascular conditions.
